Just as Butterflies represent freedom for the earthbound caterpillar,  our kids undergo a miraculous change with treatment and are able to experience freedom from the intellectual limitations of Down syndrome.  We will release 1000 Painted Lady Butterflies all at once for a beautiful mass flight.  Please support our cause by sponsoring a butterfly and helping to improve the lives of many children and adults with Down syndrome.  All money raised will be used to spread the word about CMF and expand awareness of the need for more research to treat Down syndrome.

This will be our fifth year at Nancy's Garden in downtown Houston.  It is a beautiful garden courtyard outside the Diocese of Texas, which is across the street from Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Houston, Texas.  The website for the cathedral is below:

The 7th Annual CMF Butterfly Flutter By was held in Nancy's Garden again for the 5th year, at Christ Church Cathedral.  We had several new families turn-out this year.....and a few of our regulars, along with some families from the community and the church.  But no matter where they came from, all who attended had a great time! We raised about $4700 this year, after expenses,  for the Changing Minds Foundation.   All money raised will be used to spread the word about CMF and expand awareness of the need for more research to treat Down syndrome.   A big Thank you to everyone who participated by purchasing a butterfly, attending the event and releasing butterflies, helping with set-up, cleaning up, registering attendees, or monitoring crafts and serving food!  A Big Thank you also to Christ Church Cathedral for allowing us to use Nancy's Garden and helping us with tables, chairs, trash, etc.  Thanks to our wonderful clown musicians, Molly Ness and Donna Mathews, who volunteered their time and played the harps for us again for the 6th year....and kept all the children entertained.  We also want to thank Jamie for planning and running the craft portion of our event, and Angie for donating the fresh fruit and serving it along with the drinks. A BIG thank you also goes out to Taylor Font, who took many of these amazing photos you will see on our site!

The 6th Annual CMF Butterfly Flutter By was held in Nancy's Garden again at Christ Church Cathedral.  This was our 4th year to be in this beautiful garden. We had several new families turn-out this year.....and quite a few of our regulars, but all who attended had a great time. We were only able to raise $2700 this year for the Changing Minds Foundation.  This is a bit less than we have raised in the past, but we tried advertising to get more participation and that costs money.  All money raised will be used to spread the word about CMF and expand awareness of the need for more research to treat Down syndrome.   A big Thank you to everyone who participated by purchasing a butterfly, attending the event and releasing butterflies, helped with set-up, clean up, registration, crafts or food!  A Big Thank you also to Christ Church Cathedral for allowing us to use Nancy's Garden and helping us with tables, chairs, trash, etc.  Thanks to our wonderful clown musicians, Molly Ness and Donna Mathews, who volunteered their time and played the harps for us again for the 5th year....and kept all the children entertained.  We also want to thank Jamie for planning and running the craft portion of our event.

Our second annual Butterfly Flutter By event was very successful and a lot of fun!  Thank you to everyone who participated by purchasing a butterfly or by attending the event and releasing your butterfly.  We had a big crowd this year.  St. Martins Episcopal Church did a wonderful job setting up for us and providing all the crafts and refreshments.  Thank you to St. Martins!  A big thank you also to our musicians: Molly Ness and Donna Mathews, who volunteered their time and talent for our worthy cause.  Thank you to Judi Martin, our marketing rep. who invited the media and got the word out about our event.  We had representatives from all the local stations.  Channel 39 news ran a story on the 9pm news that night.  You can view the video below.  We sold a lot of butterflies this year!  We made a profit of $4250 over and above our expenses.  Next year we hope to sell twice and much, but we need your help.  Please tell everyone you know about Changing Minds Foundation and the difference that treatment can make in a person's life who is affected by Down syndrome.  Thank you!
